About Me
Hello! I’m Dr Zenab Baber, I’m a fully qualified Clinical Psychologist registered with the HCPC, with 16 years of experience working in mental health services across the UK.
Throughout my career in both the NHS and private sector, I’ve had the privilege of supporting adolescents and adults from a wide range of backgrounds. I specialise in helping people enhance their emotional wellbeing, build self-esteem, and heal from experiences such as trauma, anxiety, low mood and past difficulties that continue to affect the present.
My Approach
I aim to create a warm, collaborative, and non-judgemental space where you feel comfortable exploring your experiences at your own pace, speaking your truth fully, and knowing that you will be met with empathy and respect. This is particularly important if you are sharing parts of yourself that you may have kept hidden for a long time.
Beginning therapy can feel like a big and sometimes daunting step. It’s completely normal to feel uncertain or nervous about what to expect. To help you take that first step, we would start with a brief telephone consultation to talk about your current concerns and what you’re hoping for from therapy. If we agree to work together, we’ll then arrange an initial assessment session to explore things in more depth and decide on a plan that feels right for you. If you feel comfortable continuing, we would move on to regular therapy sessions tailored to your individual needs. Each session may look a little different depending on where you are in your journey and what you would like to focus on.
Together, we will develop a shared understanding of your difficulties, exploring how past experiences may be influencing your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours in the present. This process can help you make sense of patterns that keep you feeling stuck and begin to create new, healthier ways of responding.
As therapy progresses, you will build confidence in managing challenges and develop a personal toolbox of strategies to help you stay grounded, resilient, and moving forward in a meaningful way.
Experience
I’m an integrative therapist, which means I draw on a range of therapeutic models to create an approach that’s tailored to your individual needs. The way I work is guided by clinical evidence, professional experience, and your personal preferences, ensuring that therapy feels both effective and collaborative. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and other evidence-based approaches.
Alongside private practice, I work in a specialist NHS adult community mental health service, where I provide assessment and therapy for clients experiencing moderate to severe mental health difficulties. My NHS work has included specialist services for both adults and children across London and Berkshire. I have worked in a variety of settings including child and adolescent services, perinatal care, inpatient units, and services supporting physical health, neurorehabilitation, and learning disabilities. Alongside therapy, I also provide supervision, consultation, and training to other mental health professionals.
